The Opportunity
How would you like to work for the #1 quick service restaurant operation in the world? We are recruiting for a 4-month summer intern, who is a strong communicator, has a high level of curiosity and loves to come up with new ways of tackling opportunities.

Who You Are
You have a genuine desire to learn, are curious by nature, thrives in ambiguity and builds relationships quickly.  You will work to connect the dots for storytelling opportunities in 80 countries around the world, help keep priorities front and centre for a busy team that is geographically dispersed, and jump in with both feet to support issues and opportunities that pop up around the world.  Ideally, you’re an early-riser who doesn’t mind a quick start to your day in order to connect with team members overseas. (Core hours for this position are 8-4 EST, with summer hours on Fridays) If you want to be part of a global team helping drive the McDonald’s business forward, this could be the opportunity for you!

Job Description:

Support structure and process:

  • Help build out support tools and process for an internationally dispersed team.  This includes ways of collecting positive stories about brand efforts, and tracking issues and updates to various cross-functional teams.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings, tracking priorities and bringing relevant items forward for group discussion.
  • Engage with various global centres of excellence (including media relations, leadership communications and others) to capture updates and information on behalf of the International Corporate Relations team.
  • Support the roll-out of the team’s annual planning process.

Seek and celebrate:

  • Review online market content and media highlights to capture positive examples of brand trust in international markets.
  • Support the creation of internal and social content (LinkedIn) to further highlight and share best practices.

Qualifications

  • The education. Post-secondary degree in Communications, PR or other related discipline.
  • The collaborative skills. A collaborative team player who possesses outstanding people skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and different cultures.
  • The communication skills.  Strong written, oral, and presentation skills. Ability to present and communicate information and recommendations clearly and concisely, helping others to take clear action.
  • The innovative problem-solving skills. Takes a thoughtful approach to collecting information and analyzing gaps in current process. Is not shy to make recommendations, and gets a thrill out of coming up with a new idea and then rolling up their sleeves to bring it to life.
