Job Title: Site Engineer

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Overview

  • The Site Engineer oversees the day-to-day activities on-site, setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the project plan.
    Organizing workflow and ensuring that contractors understand their duties or delegated tasks, monitoring contractor’s productivity, providing technical advice, supervising staff onsite and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget whilst providing constructive feedback.
  • The site engineer’s responsibilities include managing different parts of construction projects, supervising crew members, preparing estimates for time and material costs, completing quality assurance, observing health and safety standards, and compiling reports for different stakeholders.
  • You should be able to work alongside various professionals and create work schedules that meet deadlines.
  • To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate strong analytical, logical thinking skills and a strong ability to thrive under pressure.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives
  • Set out, level and survey the site
  • Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations
  • Ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the specifications
  • Oversee the selection and requisition of materials
  • Agree a price for materials and make cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project
  • Manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect
  • Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project
  • Liaise with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws
  • Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress
  • Carry out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and the work of any subcontractors – this is site-specific and may not be the case on all projects
  • Plan the work and efficiently organize the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines
  • Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site
  • Prepare reports as required
  • Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
  • Produce up-to-date reports on health and safety issues as well as project coordination matters
  • Ensures compliance with Oak homes values, policies and standards, and ensures compliance with all local statutory requirements.
  • Timely assistance of project manager at all times

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4+ years experience as a site engineer/building technician
  • Proven work experience in a similar role
  • Project Management certification
  • HSE Level 1,2,3 certification
  • HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or similar
  • Additional certificates or licenses is required (PMP, COREN, AutoCAD)
  • Sound knowledge of Engineering, construction, and design
  • Great leadership and organizational skills
  • Superb project management skills
  • Ability to apply logical and critical thinking skills to projects
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to learn
